The wedding video I would like to showcase today is the wedding of Helen and David who had their humanist ceremony and wedding reception in the Lough Rea and Spa hotel in co Galway in the middle of October last year. October is probably my favourite time to shoot a wedding video, the colours of the trees and the sky make for lovely images and there is still enough light to get some nice couple shots while still having, hopefully, reasonably good weather!
I started the morning in the bridal suite of the Lough Rea Hotel, its a lovely spacious and well lit room looking over the sea. I filmed the morning wedding preparations in my usual discrete filming style, catching the moments of the make up and getting ready and general fun in the morning in a natural style without getting involved in any posing or such.
The ceremony took place in the De Dannan suite downstairs and I was in plenty of time to get the groom arriving and shots of the guests arriving for the big day. The photographer was Michael Dillon who I have worked with a number of times and couldn't recommend enough, his photography is of an outstanding quality and he works extremely well in keeping the couple relaxed and the family shoots well organised. After the ceremony we went down to Lake Road for some portrait and bridal party shots before heading back to the hotel for family shots.
A wedding film wouldn't be complete without the speeches so after dinner they were underway and after a break to clear the dance floor the party was able to begin and with the first dance filmed I had everything I needed to complete the highlight wedding film for the couple.
